Music and Thought: October 30, 7:30 PM, Tom Begich with Sarah Sledge, an Evening of Poetry and Song

The AIPCT is pleased to announce an evening of poetry and song in its Music and Thought series.

Traveling acoustic musician, Tom Begich, performs original music and the occasional poem around the country with his wife, Sarah Sledge. An evening with Tom and Sarah features rich songwriting, storytelling, superb harmony, and a journey down the many roads we have all traveled. Tom has released five CDs of his original music, a compilation CD of original spoken word and music with Santa Fe- and Boston-based poet and performer Tim Mason, and has published his own book of sonnets: Six Truths. He is currently working on a new book length poem tentatively entitled “Constitution”.

Tom also serves as Minority Leader in the Alaska State Senate, runs a small communications and strategic planning agency devoted to community collaboration around reduction of juvenile substance abuse and delinquency, and has recently secured his private detective license, while Sarah is the executive director of an education non-profit focused on improving education outcomes for Alaska’s rural school districts. Together they tour twice a year from Alaska to Florida, and parts in between. Join them for a great night of original music and storytelling, and take a little of Alaska back home with you!

The doors will open at 7:00. Attendees are welcome to bring libations and snacks, and beer, wine, soft drinks and light refreshments are provided. Co-sponsored by Cousin Andy’s Coffee House.
